Packing Shoes for Spring and Summer

Here are some of my tried and true sneakers and sandals for packing for warmer weather.

One of the most difficult decisions to make when packing for me has always been shoes. Because you can’t just stuff in one more pair like you can with an item of clothing, the first thing I think about is how many shoes I’m going to want and need on any given trip. Warm weather travel is not any easier because although you’re not packing large options like heavy boots, I feel like I need more sneakers and sandals than is reasonable. Here are some of my tried and true options for packing in warmer weather:

Veja V-10

You will not see me anywhere (unless it’s the dead of winter) without my Veja V-10s. I am obsessed with this V-10 style, which gives me a casual look, but I can still wear them to a trendy restaurant. Plus, they’re super comfortable and go with absolutely every outfit. They come in so many color options it’s almost overwhelming, but having a minimalist style, I always take with me the timeless black and white pair. And don’t worry about getting the white scuffed up and dirty – with the CWL material, any dirt you can wipe off with some soap and water and they are good as new. I promise you will not be disappointed and you’ll be thanking yourself years from now.

APL Ascend Sneakers

APL is another one of my favorite sneaker brands, and not even for wearing while working out. In fact, I’m proud to say I have never worn these sneakers cross training like they are really made for, although I’m sure they work amazing for that too. These sneakers have become a second skin for me and I love traveling with them for a comfortable pair of shoes to slip on and walk around in that still give me a cool athleisure look. I live in leggings on a daily basis, so I absolutely love that they go with everything! I wear them almost every day and I could not stress enough how worth the investment these shoes are.

Versatile Flat Sandals

The key to traveling in warm weather is having a pair of sandals you can wear during the daytime that are comfortable and also ones you could wear with a dress to a restaurant. I found the Vince Blyton sandals in black that perfectly met this need for me. Unfortunately, Vince doesn’t make them anymore but you could still find them on Poshmark or Ebay. If you’re a size 7 or 11, there are still a few pairs on Amazon

There are definitely styles out there that are similar but I highly recommend getting multi-purpose sandals. Although I love all of my cute platform sandals, they don’t fit into a carry-on without taking up way too much room so I wanted sandals that were flat for easy storage and walking comfort but that didn’t compromise style for wearing out at night – and these are it!

Veja Venturi

Another shoe I love by Veja, I found the Venturi to be the perfect mix of a sneaker that I can wear when I’m going on a trip with some adventure while also staying casual enough to walk all day in the city with. I got these sneakers specifically for my trip to Australia where I wanted sneakers that I could do easy hikes in but be versatile enough and comfortable enough for every day. I didn’t even break them in before walking miles a day and they were absolutely comfortable and I felt super confident in them.

Versatile Heels

While I love a good pair of heels to wear to dinner, date night, or a social event, they are not practical for packing when I can’t take multiple pairs with me. If I’m not traveling for a wedding these days, I always grab the Melly sandals by Aquatalia. They are slightly elevated sandal heels that are comfortable enough to walk a few blocks in but still great for a night out. Plus, the style is pretty versatile for day or night wear and they come in a few color and material options.

Stuart Weitzman Nearlynude Strap Sandal Collection

As an alternative for a more formal event or if you can afford a splurge, I am obsessed with the Stuart Weitzman Nearlynude collection. I have worn these heels to every wedding I attended (including my own). I dance in them all night and they never let me down. It’s tough to find a pair of heels you don’t want to rip off at the end of the night and these are the only heels I don’t feel that way about above 3 inches, so naturally, I own them in almost every color.

APL Techloom Pro Sneakers

The Techloom Pro by APL is a great option for when you want a running style shoe to take with you on your trip, but one that looks nice enough to wear with your everyday outfit. I love the hidden function of all APL sneakers that makes me feel prepared for anything while knowing that I love wearing them out every day, whether I’m working out or not.
